FAQs

What are Cannabinoids?

Cannabinoids are chemical compounds found in cannabis. These compounds can provide relief to a variety of symptoms, which may include pain, nausea, anxiety, insomnia and inflammation. They imitate compounds our bodies produce naturally, these compounds are called endocannabinoids and they activate to maintain homeostasis and improve health.

When absorbed, cannabinoids bind to receptor sites in our brain (CB-1) and body (CB-2). There are different effects associated with different cannabinoids as their affinity varies between receptors. For example, THC binds to CB-1 receptors in the brain whereas CBN binds to CB-2 receptors in the body.

Cannabinoids have already been synthesized for prescription use due to its promising medical applications. For example, the FDA approved Epidiolex is a purified form of CBD and used to treat seizures associated with Lennox-Gastaut syndrome or Dravet syndrome in patients 1 year of age or older. These synthetically purified forms of cannabinoids are undoubtedly effective, however, research shows they lack the “entourage effect” that allows these compounds to work together and provide a far wider range of therapeutic applications.

What is CBD (Cannabidiol)?

What is the endocannabinoid system?

The endocannabinoid system (ECS) is a biological system that is mainly composed of endocannabinoid receptors, internal neurotransmitters and cannabinoid receptor proteins that is linked to the regulation of a multitude of functions in our bodies which contributes to the homeostasis of the body’s internal environment. These functions include mood, sleep, learning, memory, appetite, reproduction, pain, immunity, digestion, metabolism, bone and muscle formation, skin and nerve function as well as motor control. Even though this system was discovered in the late 1980s, scientists are still researching the extent to which the ECS governs our body and how it functions.

Can I build tolerance to CBD?

Tolerance occurs when your body begins to feel the effects of a substance less, even though you are absorbing an amount that used to be effective. This tolerance buildup means that you require more of the substance for the same desired effect.

CBD works the opposite way. In fact, CBD actually promotes cannabinoid receptor activity from continuous usage. This means that people can actually reduce their dosage after a few months without losing the effects!

What is CBD made from?

CBD can be derived from a multitude of cannabis plants. We derive ours naturally from certified Hemp Farms in Europe.

Is CBD legal in Hong Kong?

Yes! Pure cannabidiol is legal in Hong Kong and not classified as a dangerous drug. We make sure our products contain no traces of THC

Is CBD safe?

CBD has no lethal dose or known serious side effects, making its prospects in therapeutic treatment very bright.

Entourage Effect

The entourage effect is known as the mechanism in which botanical compounds act synergistically to enhance or modulate the medicinal function of the substance. THC, CBD, CBN, CBC, CBG and Terpenes potentially work together and differ in function as their ratios change.

What are Terpenes?

Terpenes are naturally occurring aromatic compounds that can be found in cannabis plants. However, they may be more readily found in essential oils of lavender, orange, hops, black pepper, eucalyptus, lemons, coriander, sage and much more. Evidence has shown that specific terpenes can help achieve a function in conjunction with other cannabinoids. For example, Beta-caryophyllene (BCP) has shown to react with CB2 receptors to control inflammation and pain relief.

Why add Terpenes to your products?

We know that the natural terpene balance is altered during the processing of CBD oil. We are one of the companies that work to revitalize and improve our CBD oil by adding our carefully selected terpenes back into the natural mix. By blending our own terpene formula with our CBD oil we can achieve a specific end function for our product, giving our CBD tincture products the cutting edge in the market.

Are Terpenes safe?

The primary terpenes found in cannabis plants are on the FDA’s “generally recognized as safe” (GRAS) list. This means that large doses can be consumed without concern for safety.

How much CBD should I take?

Please refer to our product packaging or our product page as our recommended dosage differs with each product. Research shows CBD tolerance build up acts in reverse, therefore we recommend you sustain our recommended CBD usage for a week before adjusting the dosage.

Please keep in mind the dosage requirement of CBD varies with body weight, sex and age. If you aren’t feeling the desired effect after following our recommended dosage, please increase/decrease the dosage by 10mg until you are happy with the results.

Is CBD psychoactive?

Yes! CBD is psychoactive according to the World Health Organization. It is a substance “that, when taken in or administered into one’s system, affects mental processes, e.g. cognition or effect”.

However, CBD is non-intoxicating and does not cause the effects associated with other psychoactive compounds such as THC (Euphoria, stupor, loss of control etc.). In fact, evidence shows that taking the right amount of CBD could promote focus and clear the mind.
